Annual Background Verification
The challenge of opening our doors to all who would come, while also providing for our safety, is daunting to say the least. Members of the staff and certain volunteers work hard to implement and maintain best practices. For our shared safety, many of these procedures and practices are hidden from view, but they are always in place.
One of our foundational practices is the annual background verification of all staff members and of all volunteers who work with children. This happens every summer in the weeks leading up to Vacation Bible School. In the past, we have required staff members and volunteers to complete a written authorization form.
Beginning this year, this information can be completed online by using the secure link to our service provider, Clear Investigative Advantage Research (https://ciaresearch.com).
The church uses two levels of background verification. The first is for those whose work requires driving for the church, including the FPC bus. This background verification checks for criminal records in all 50 states and Montgomery County, in addition to Texas driving records. The second level of background information includes the same information, but without driving records.
To volunteer to work with children and youth, please send an email to Dena Sowden (dsowden@fpcConroe.org). She will forward the link that you can use to complete the secure online form.
If you have questions about the church’s process for the annual background verification, the information that is received, or the church’s work to secure your personal information, please contact our pastor, David Green, by calling the church office (936) 756-8884. He will be glad to answer your questions.
