Be Aware - Scam Alert
Please be aware that church-goers are being targeted by scammers. This typically involves a message (text or email) that appears to be from a pastor. The message describes an urgent need (like a family struggling with the demands of house fire or medical expense) and asks you to help by purchasing a few hundred dollars in gift cards or credits for iTunes. The scammer then asks you to reply to the message with all of the information needed to convert the gift cards into cash.
Please know that Dr. Green will not ask you to purchase gift cards or iTunes credits to help with someone else’s financial burdens. Also, you can be sure that a message is not from the church if appears to be from Dr. Green, but is from an account using @Yahoo.com, @Gmail.com, or @Hotmail.com. Please do not respond to these accounts. Emails from Dr. Green originate from dgreen@fpcConroe.org.
The desire to help others, especially people struggling through tragic events, is one of the great attributes of our congregation. From time to time, there are families that have an exceptional and extraordinary need for help. When we are able to do so, this need is verified with one of our mission partners and the assistance is funded through the church’s budget or with gifts designated for use at the pastor’s discretion. Your generous support for the annual budget makes this possible. You can give to the church with a check payable to First Presbyterian Church of Conroe, or by giving online at www.fpcconroe.org/give.
